Hearing tests

Emily and Abigail had their hearing tests yesterday. Abigail was textbook perfect, responding to every test in the expected manner. Emily, on the other hand, took fright at the dancing lion (the puppet jiggles when the sound is played). After a while she learned to ignore the sound to avoid looking at the terrifying toy.

Despite the scary puppet factor, the test results showed that she's had an improvement in her hearing since the grommets were fitted. She can now hear around 60-70dB whereas previous tests haven't had any response below 80dB. With her hearing aids she has almost normal hearing. The audiologist said there shouldn't be any reason why she can't develop normal speech with her current hearing aids.
